£60.00 for job completed within the first hour and £25 charge per hour after for general trade and odd jobs seems awful expensive, Is there anyway I can get my work done for less?
You probably cannot get the work done well for less, because the economics of contracting has changed over the years. The amount we charge is about the minimum it takes to provide a competent , reliable and insurance backed professional service considering that VAT is already added. While you may be able to find "bargain" service providers who will work for less, these firms are rarely competent and insured, are far less likely to back up their work, and will probably be much more cavalier about returning calls and keeping appointments.
